Try This Films is an independent film studio run by Seattle-area filmmaker John Helde. Their award-winning documentary film productions and corporate video work incorporate a filmmaking style that emphasizes story, immediacy, truthfulness, and emotion. In addition to developing an overall corporate identity for the studio, we also developed promotional marketing materials for several of their film productions. “Hello” is a short film revolving around the interaction of two ferry commuters. The documentary feature “Made In China” shows Helde’s search for knowledge about his father’s past as a white American child growing up in 1930’s China. For these films, we developed promotional posters and rack cards, DVD disc and sleeve graphics, and the graphic user interface for the DVD itself.

I'm an award-winning graphic designer - which means I've paid a bunch of money to graphic design publications in order to have peers in my field  judge my work and give me a certificate with a gold star on it. Awards are nice but they are based purely on aesthetic. They don't take into consideration project scope, the discovery process, my design process, and, most importantly, the impact my design work had on my client's bottom line. A great designer once said, "Good graphic design solves real business problems, because if it doesn't it's just decorating."

 

What this boils down to  –  I'm an award winning graphic designer who solves real business problems for my clients.
