St Alphonsus Parish School

Brand Work

Logo Development • Business Cards • Collateral

Saint Alphonsus Parish School has been educating kids in the Ballard neighborhood of Seattle since 1907. St. Alphonsus Parish School is dedicated to the formation of the whole child through academic excellence in a welcoming, faith-filled community based on Catholic traditions and values. I worked closely with the school commission to develop a school logo that reflects the school mission, vision and values. We ended up researching symbols that embody a sense of history and tradition with an aesthetic that was future facing. We landed on a school crest. A crest embodies a sense of tradition, it’s a symbol of formal education as well as a symbol of protection. The prominent, stylized "A" is modern, future facing. The pencil and brush are traditional symbols of education as well as a representation of the arts. The cross on top is a symbol of Catholic faith and values, the foundation of a St Alphonsus education. The components embody a well rounded mind, body, and spirt approach to education.

I'm an award-winning graphic designer - which means I've paid a bunch of money to graphic design publications in order to have peers in my field  judge my work and give me a certificate with a gold star on it. Awards are nice but they are based purely on aesthetic. They don't take into consideration project scope, the discovery process, my design process, and, most importantly, the impact my design work had on my client's bottom line. A great designer once said, "Good graphic design solves real business problems, because if it doesn't it's just decorating."

What this boils down to  –  I'm an award winning graphic designer who solves real business problems for my clients.

Partnering with talented, driven, collaborative people and creating lasting, meaningful work is my passion.

Let's work together.
